A Gurdwara, or 'door to the guru', is a Sikh place of worship. People from all faiths or none are welcomed.  During a service Raagis singers recite, sing and explain verses from the Guru Granth Sahib, in the presence of the congregation.

The original group formed in 1908 and called itself Khalsa  Jatha to promote religious and social activities among Sikhs  who had settled in the UK.  Starting off in Shepherds Bush, as funds were raised the Jatha bought its current home, originally called Norland Castle and moved there in 1969. The  domes were added in the early 1990s and more refurbishment began in 2000. The building has a hall where people can eat free vegetarian food brought in by Sikhs worshiping at the Gurdwara.
